This striking anthropomorphic jar distinguishes itself from all unearthed artifacts at the Shih-san-hang site. Instead of practical ware, it is a mortuary object accompanying a male burial. On its body, a three-dimensional, realistic human face is skillfully depicted. The details of the face include prominent eyebrows decorated with numerous small dots forming narrow eyes, an open mouth, a delicate nose rising between the eyebrows, distinct nose holes, an impressed circle situated in between the eyebrows, two ears accompanied by impressed circles beside the cheeks and a chin protruding from the body. This item showcases exceptional pottery-making technologies and the remarkable creativity of the prehistoric Shih-san-hang people. Based on its artistic value and cultural significance, this jar was designated as one of our most important national antiquities.
