The low-relief sculpture is of Field Marshal Prince Bovorn Vongse Ther, former Minister of Commerce and Communications, who initiated the construction of a new building in 1938 to serve as the headquarters of the Post and Telegraph Department after it was relocated from "Pornsani Building" on Ong-Ang Canal to its new location at the old British Embassy in 1946. He had conceived the idea of consolidating various units of the department under one roof.
