K 5785; M 745. The sugar box was manufactured by the firm of Bracia Buch in Warsaw. The mark on the lid refers to gilding with overlay silver and dates back to 1872-1882. Silver-plated sugar boxes at Warsaw factories began production no later than 1840. Sugar boxes from the first half of the XIX century were usually in the form of a box and closed with a key, as expensive granulated sugar was used at that time. After the cheap beet sugar began to be produced in the second half of the XIX century, the need for locks disappeared, new forms of sugar boxes appeared, and with the spread of powdered sugar completely new types of containers for it emerged. Nevertheless, silver-plated sugar boxes in the form of a box continued to be released on Warsaw factories until 1939. The item existed in the village Struki Dokshitsky region. It is known that he came to the heir from his grandfather. In the family, the sugar box was called "larchik", which speaks about its use as a box for storing valuable small items, not as a serving dish.
