Централна минерална баня, гр. София

In 1904, architects Petko Momchilov and Friedrich Grünanger unveiled a conceptual design for the bathhouse. The bathhouse opened its doors in 1913. Decorative facade friezes featuring floral and geometric motifs were created by artist Haralampi Tachev. Ceramic images of Apollo Medicus - god of health, and goddess Tyche - patroness of cities adorn both sides of the main entrance. Bomber attacks on Sofia caused significant damage to the bathhouse. Following World War II, it was restored and declared a cultural monument of local significance. Due to amortization in 1986, the building was closed. A permanent exhibition at the Sofia History Museum, housed in one half of the bathhouse building, was officially opened in 2015. By the end of 2016, the museum had been reorganized from a "community cultural institute" into a Regional Historical Museum - Sofia. Today, public debates continue over whether to restore the original function of the bathhouse or transform it entirely into a museum.
