The Node-Based Writing System is a type of writing that utilizes threads as the medium for information transfer and nodes for encoding data, along with thread colors. In Ancient China, they used this method to manage their affairs. Later on, they replaced it with written characters and numbers. In the poetry of Daodejing, or "The Book of the Way and Its Virtue," philosopher Lao Tzu in Chapter 80 calls for a return to the customs of old when people still used threads and knots. During the times of Emperor Zhanguo, Xuan Yuan, Fu Xi, and Shennong, people tied knots to communicate with each other. To signify an important task, they'd tie a large knot; for a minor task, a small one. The number of knots corresponded to the number of tasks at hand.
