A trocar is a medical device used during surgery, such as when fixing bone fragments with an orthopedic plate. It consists of an obturator (a pointed tip) and a cannula (a hollow tube). The trocar creates a channel through soft tissues, allowing for a smaller incision and reduced trauma during the procedure. After making an incision in the soft tissues, the endoprosthetic plate is inserted, and a sleeve-limiter is used to guide it. A stylet guides the screw insertion into the bone, which is then tightened using a screwdriver. The trocar's function helps maintain a secure channel for the orthopedic plate while minimizing soft tissue damage.
