In 1977, commercial production of the model began at Pavlovsky Bus Factory. PАZ 3742 is a refrigerated truck designed to transport perishable food products. A total of 806 units of refrigerators were produced by Pavlovsky factory. In 1978, Bakinsky Special Vehicle Factory joined the production of this model. Since 1980, the production of PАZ 3742 was conducted entirely in Baku. The PАZ 3742 is based on the platform of PАZ 672. The PАZ 3742 stood out for its reliability and ease of operation. The lifespan of components and units before major overhaul reached 320,000 km.
