Research conducted in March and April 2013 on the Auto Camp Dole terrain in Živogošće-Blato found remnants of an ancient villa rustica; a Roman rural estate that likely operated throughout the entire valley where the camp is now located. This research covered only 40 square meters of the presumed complex. Despite the small area explored, enough data was collected to indicate that this is part of a villa with thermal characteristics. Previous Živogošće and surrounding area research suggest that this space has functioned as a densely populated area throughout history, where various human activities were present; from construction, livestock, agriculture, fishing to trade. This research contributed to understanding how life functioned on a very small space in a relatively short time period.
