ZYYX Exhaust Duct
thingiverse
The ZYYX 3D Printer arrives equipped with an exhaust fan and an active carbon filter, perfectly suited for working with PLA materials in a spacious room. Nevertheless, I foresee using other less benign materials soon, requiring more comprehensive ventilation. This exhaust duct system was engineered to redirect the exhaust outside as my printer resides in my home office. To achieve this installation, I only needed two feet of aluminum ducting due to the proximity of the window to the printer. Specifically, I chose Deflecto Aluminum Duct with Connectors, Semi-Rigid, Flexible, 4” x 2’, which can be purchased on Amazon for approximately $5 as an Add-on item. The duct fits snugly at both ends but requires electrician’s tape to compensate for out-of-roundness in the aluminum. A custom-made window filler was necessary to fit my sliding glass window, with holes cut for the exhaust port and four screws. The black four-inch-flange has a bolt pattern that matches the exhaust fan assembly on the ZYYX. The original four screws holding the fan in place were removed and replaced with longer screws to accommodate the flange.
