Zyltech 5kg spool holder
thingiverse
This is my go-to spool holder remix. It's tailored to meet my needs for extra width since using two bearings side by side wouldn't have cut it. I'm really drawn to this design because it allows me to load the spool without needing to thread anything through its center - just plop it on top and you're good to go. This particular holder is designed with the 5kg Zyltech Texas-sized spools in mind, and it relies on ZZ608 bearings, which are a great choice. To build this holder, you'll need eight of these bearings since each side requires four per pair. After printing out the holder, I recommend using a 5/16" or 8mm drill bit to tidy up the holes on the base part. For assembly, it's best to use an arbor press - trust me, it makes things much easier. My approach was to push the axle through one side of the holder, then add one bearing and a spacer, followed by another bearing before finally pressing the axle all the way through.
