zx82net Bookshelf Speaker (Hexibase remix) v2
thingiverse
I've updated the design on February 19, 2020. I've added provision for driver guards at the front in the form of two chrome handles (link below). The enclosure now prints with integrated supports for the port entrance, and I made a minor cosmetic change to the size of the front border. All files have been replaced with new versions, which are not backwards compatible. This is a remix of Hexibase's bookshelf speaker with Tang Band W3-2141 drivers. The internal volume, port area, and port length are all matched to the original design, but I've taken the port and wrapped it into the shape of a stand. I also added reinforcement to the inside walls and gave it a touch of Bauhaus style. The reinforcement is accounted for in the internal volume. I've printed the speaker, and the results are awesome - extremely clean bass, no boominess, and very low distortion. This prints in three parts in the orientation shown (port goes on its side). The port and front face should be glued into the enclosure. I suggest using blue-tak to hold the driver guards in place, as gluing them in place will prevent removing the drivers. No supports are required, other than those built into the enclosure model. I've put 5mm holes in for binding posts, and features for M3 bolts and nuts to hold the drivers in place. Follow hexibase's advice and use some good gasket material. The Fusion 360 files are included, so you can modify them to your heart's content. The design is heavily parametrized in Fusion 360, allowing you to change wall thickness and other parameters without breaking it. However, always check the result after changing parameters. Bill of materials (per speaker): * 1 kg of filament for your choice * 4 x M3 nuts * 4 x M3 screws * 1 x Tang Band W3-2141 * 2 x Amerock BP865CS26 Cabinet Pull, 3-5/16-Inch, Polished Chrome (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001AH5DMC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) The holes are spaced for the measured size of the handles, not the spec (76.5 vs 76mm), which is a parameter in the Fusion 360 file.
