ZX Spectrum +2A/B Replacement Case
thingiverse
I'm replacing the old case of my ZX Spectrum +2A/B with a brand new one. Since I only need support for DivIDE or +3e, I decided to remove the tape drive. The new case is narrower than the original because it's missing the tape drive, but all other dimensions remain the same. You won't find any Sinclair badges on this case yet, though. Printing it took a long time, and it was done in four parts since my printer isn't big enough to print everything at once. Each part has been glued together, so some sanding is needed to make it look neat again. You can use the original case screws with just two extra ones that will support the keyboard, which is now centered instead of being on one side. I created this replacement case because I had an old +2A with a damaged case and non-functioning tape drive that I wanted to upgrade with my 3eMMC. To make it more versatile, I added extra screw holes for supporting the tape drive circuitry if you want to use it as an external input feed. A hole has also been drilled in for a 3.5mm jack. The on LED, joysticks, reset button and all other ports are still there, just like they were before. Check out the photos to see how it looks.
