This mod turns your Zuru Xshot Rage Fire minigun into the UNSC machine gun turret (AIE-486H Heavy Machine Gun) from the Halo franchise. I love this blaster!This mod prints on an Ender 3 or like-sized bed but you will need to rotate the shield plate on the print bed in the slicer so that it is diagonal. The mounting bracket piece is universal, so just print two of those (one for each side) and you will be able to mount the left and right shield plates.This set is designed to work with M6 hardware. Specifically, I used M6 x 1mm nylon insert locking nuts and M6-1.0 x 16mm socket cap bolts (allen wrench type of bolts). I opted for stainless. Buying on Amazon, I got 50 nuts and 20 bolts for about $15 plus tax.Specifically, these are the hardware items I ordered:amazon.com/dp/B012T3HI64 (50 nuts, $6.99 as of this writing)amazon.com/dp/B07CJ7PYV4 (20 bolts, $7.94 as of this writing)You need two bolts and two nuts for each side's bracket/shield so a complete set will need 4 nuts and 4 bolts. This bracket design has two extra holes toward the rear where the rail mount is and those are not needed for this particular project. I am using that set of holes as part of an ammo box mount that I am working on and I didn't bother to fill them in for this since the extra holes don't hurt anything.Once you have the plates bolted onto the brackets, just slide each bracket onto the side rails that exist on the Rage Fire for actual installation.I am printing mine at 0.1mm layer height, 15% infill, and 5 wall lines. With those settings each shield plate takes almost 45 hours but the results are really nice that way. I will post photos of a real print when I get a set in the new size (EDIT 2/6/24: photos have been added).
