Zen Garden at Zuihoin Temple (Daitokuji), Kyoto, Japan Zuihoin is a renowned Zen Garden skillfully designed by Shigemori Mirei, a highly respected landscape architect and artist. This partial model showcases a smaller version of the garden, which will be featured in our Nuit Blanche Kyoto 2016 Virtual Reality Exhibition. Through collaboration with the head priest, we obtained access to extensive photogrammetry data as well as laser scans using the FARO Focus3D. We plan to update this model as we gather more data. This capture represents just one example of our ambitious goal of utilizing 3D modeling and VR for cultural preservation and exposure in Kyoto and Japan nationwide. Zuihoin Temple (Daitokuji), Kyoto North District A temple belonging to the Rinzai sect of Buddhism. Zuihoin's garden was designed by Shigemori Mirei in 1961. This is a partial work featured at Nuit Blanche Kyoto 2016. We took photogrammetry shots with the cooperation of the head priest, and simultaneously used FARO Focus3D to scan with lasers. This capture represents one example of our efforts to preserve culture using 3D models and VR in Kyoto.
