Main features: Front side comes off easy for maintenance tasks The chamber has a thermometer that measures temperature inside the printer The back side has a hole for cables and filament tubes Pipes connect to a bracket that can be disconnected easily and should be removed when the extractor is switched off The chamber holds many useful tool holders This shows one way to extend your Zortrax machine Keep in mind this is just an example of work in progress Background story: I searched for a solution to problems caused by fumes from 3D printers. I was surprised people were unconcerned about fumes from their devices. As any parent, I decided to create my own fume extraction solution for our health and safety. Before buying a 3D printer, I knew this would be my first project Hopefully, this example in the instructions below will help us avoid harmful fumes that aren't well understood yet Printed parts: 2 x Window-pipe adapters ( symbol:WPA ) Bottom pieces for the chamber: 2 x Bottom Right Corners ( symbol: CBR ) 2 x Bottom Left Corners ( symbol: CBL ) 2 x 8 cm Front female connectors ( symbol: FFC8 ) 2 x 8 cm Side female connectors ( symbol: SFC8 ) 4 x 1 cm Front male connectors ( symbol: FMC1 ) 4 x 1 cm Side male connectors ( symbol: SMC1 ) 2 x 1 cm Middle male connectors ( symbol: MMC1 ) 1 x Back side adapter ( symbol: BSA ) Top pieces for the chamber: 2 x Top Right Corners ( symbol:CTR ) 2 x Top Left Corners ( symbol:CTL ) 2 x Extractor holders ( symbol: EH ) 1 x Thermometer housing ( symbol: TH ) Printing parameters: Material: Z-ULTRAT ( Exception: Male connectors are printed with more flexible Z-ABS ) Layer thickness: 0.19 mm Infill: Light ( Exception: Extractor holders should have full infill ) Supports: 10 degrees of light Corners description: They tend to warp so I use side covers and try to keep warm air in the room. I mix with Z-ABS or Z-Ultrat residue and pure Acetone to create a surface glue. Circular holes are made for removing support using a scalpel handle ( Scalpels come in most toolboxes. ) Circular holes can also be used as screws Male connector description: They're so small because the sticks break easily, so they can be replaced quickly Print sticks horizontally or they'll snap. Print them with more flexible Z-ABS material Female connector description: These parts were printed in different orientations so results may differ from the design Window-pipe adapter description: I had to print it flat, which is why it warped. To fix this, I connected 2 pieces together using ABS slurry Parts that you'll need to buy at a hardware store: Flexible pipe 3m (5cm diameter) 2 x Metal brackets for pipes Shelves cut into rectangles (dark): 16x200x340 (for left and right side) 1 x 16x235x340 (front) 1 x 16x285x340 (back) 2 x 16x97x340 (roof) Dark protective film Insulating tape Electronic devices used in the project: TOOLCRAFT ZD-153A Soldering Fume Extractor Thermometer probe, 1.5m, model BLOW TH001
