Zortrax active cooling of extruder gear
thingiverse
I have a Zortrax M200P that I've modified myself to allow using all the other plastics available today, including PLA, ABS Nylon, Wood and metal filled. Just like with my "UP Plus Pro," I found that the stepper motor of the extruder was getting too hot during long print times, transferring heat through the feeder gear and causing the filament to pre-soften, leading to strip-out. To solve this issue, I added a mod to use compressed air to actively cool the gear, and it works perfectly on my other machines as well.
