A few DIY closures can be crafted from printed pieces designed for 'zooper-dooper' tubes, allowing them to be reused as containers for honey or condensed milk. These alternatives to runner's gels are perfect for marathons or ultra-marathon events. Plastic tubes originally used to hold flavored ice and cut in half work well but need to have the same width as the original tube and not be too thick. A good, albeit imperfect seal is achieved with these closures, resulting in slight leakage over a long run. To minimize sticky pockets, keep them inside a ziplock bag. When preparing these DIY containers, load them by pouring honey from a squeeze bottle, leaving about 2 cm at the top. Fold the empty top of the tube over and insert it into the slot of the outer closure. Then, place the inner closure into the outer one, pushing gently until a small gap remains for easy extraction. Finally, push the inner closure all the way to the end of the outer one that has the slot.
