Zodiac Crystal Ball Stand
thingiverse
I had to find a crystal ball for a fortune teller to use in an upcoming theater production. Luckily, I stumbled upon an amazing LED kaleidoscope globe at the craft store for a few dollars that fit my needs perfectly. However, the base of the globe didn't quite match the aesthetic I was going for - it looked too modern and sleek. So, I decided to create a custom base that would complement the crystal ball's unique design. To make this happen, I carefully measured the existing base, which is essentially a cone intersected with a shallow cylinder. Next, I found an inspiring vector molding profile on a home improvement website that I thought would be perfect for my project. Using OpenScad, I performed a rotate extrude operation to shape the profile into a stunning design. I then selected 12 faces from this design to match up with the twelve zodiac symbols, which I downloaded from https://www.dafont.com/zodiac-s.font.
