Edit 5/5/16 Added configuration that uses 2.5 mm straws to support antenna. Some brands of cotton swabs sold in USA use a yellow tube holding the swabs. Cut to the right length, insert the antenna, and then the tube into the frame and you are ready to go. Add a drop of non-permanent glue as required. The CM621 is a lightweight, bargain-priced, 6 channel PWM DSM2 receiver suitable for many vehicles. I pushed the antennas into grooves and put masking tape around each support to hold it in place. I attach the receiver to the holder with a rubber band, using Velcro under connector pins and at the end of the holder to fasten it to the vehicle. Neither is very sophisticated but they work. The receiver is longer than the holder; I let the pins hang out the back end. It takes less than 800 mm of 1.75 filament for this thing. Print Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Prusa I3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: I used a 0.4 nozzle and 0.3 layer height Notes: I have printed earlier versions in PLA and ABS. ABS takes more cleanup in antenna grooves; it may work better if printed slower or at lower temperature. This can be printed with or without infill. Antenna holders are not filled in w/o infill but it saves a bit of weight and is still strong enough. It's probably best if the antenna holders break during a crash; maybe the receiver will survive better. Post-Printing You will probably need a file to square up edges of receiver tray and open up grooves for antenna wires. How I Designed This The Sketchup file is attached.
