The Z-50L, a low-winged single-engine monoplane manufactured by Moravan Otrokovice, boasts a Lycoming AIO-540 D4B5 engine providing 194 kW (260 hp) and driving a three-blade Hartzell constant speed propeller. The aircraft features a fixed tailwheel undercarriage and has a wingspan of 8.58 meters. It was first flown on July 18, 1975, after 18 months of design work. General specifications include a crew of one, a length of 6.62 meters, a height of 1.86 meters, and a wing area of 12.5 square meters. The airfoil is NACA 0018 at the root and NACA 0012 at the tip, with an aspect ratio of 5.89:1. The empty weight is 570 kg, while the maximum takeoff weight is 720 kg. Performance-wise, the never exceed speed is 337 km/h, the maximum speed is 293 km/h at 500 meters, and the cruise speed is 240 km/h at 500 meters. The stall speed is 98 km/h, the range is 640 km with max fuel including tip tanks, and the service ceiling is 6,000 meters. The rate of climb is 12 m/s, and the wing loading is 57.6 kg/m². In 1976, Romania purchased six Zlin Z-50L aircraft that flew until 1993. In July 2013, two aerobatic specials, ZLIN Z 50 LS, were handed over to Romanian pilots (YR-ZAX and YR-ZAY). Both planes, manufactured in 1985, underwent repair by ZLIN AIRCRAFT a.s. after being out of service since 1991 (YR-ZAX) and 1993 (YR-ZAY) until 2012 when the repair contract was signed. Now, these nearly thirty-year-old planes are flying again. Sources: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zl%C3%ADn_Z-50 and http://www.zlinaircraft.eu/en/?novinka=48
