Zirkel-Schablone (parametrisch) / parametric ruler for compass -- supports low vision

thingiverse

This is a tool / ruler to adjust a compass. It is intended to help people / pupil with low vision to adjust the compass to certain common measures (say 0.5 cm steps). One is able to "feel" the correct adjustment in the groove. Specifically for low vision it might not be the optimal choice to print it with one color, only. But I currently have no other option. I think about coloring the top of the letters and the notches for the compass. Update 21st of January 2022: version 0.01 now comes with the possibility to add a small cross at the starting point (to find the starting point / zero easier). I provide a sample stl file but I recommend to create your own ruler by using the guideline below. If you want to adapt the design to your own needs, please follow these easy steps to get the STL file you want: 1. install openSCAD: https://www.openscad.org (it is free of charge 2. install the library mentioned in the thing description 3. open the scad file of this thing 4. adjust the parameters as you like (length of the ruler, etc.) 5. render the design by pressing F6 6. export to STL by pressing F7
