Zipper/zip slider
thingiverse
My jacket zip broke, but luckily, I had just completed constructing a 3D printer! Like any skilled 3D printer user, I measured the broken zip parts, modeled them in Solidworks, and printed a new one. It functions superbly, taking less time than driving into town to buy a replacement zip. Soon, I plan to familiarize myself with free 3D CAD packages so that others can modify the design as well. For those interested, download the Zipper or Zipper with small slot files. The latter has a smaller slot size for increased plastic strength around the slot. You may need to print this with a brim due to the small surface area on one side of the slider. I've used a 5mm brim and printed it at a 0.2mm layer height, resulting in excellent performance.
