I'm glad you brought up the occasional inconvenience of using this updated zipper. After repeated uses, I found that it wasn't always the most practical solution. This modified clip is 12mm longer than its predecessor and was designed specifically for sealing Ziplocs with an extra flap. In my experience, I've mainly used it to seal them when preparing food for sous vide cooking.
