Really needed a reliable 3D-printed cable tie that wasn't miniature, so I designed and created an 8-inch standard cable tie. It works extremely well and has proven to be very reliable for me - no issues whatsoever. To avoid any problems, just make sure you apply sufficient force when locking the pawl; if you push too hard, the arm may bend backward and become a loop instead of a cable tie. I used two of these ties in tandem to secure a ribbon cable on my 3D printer because it was getting perilously close to snagging on the bed as it moved - no, I didn't use them to secure a stepper motor! In the future, I plan to design a reusable version that won't require me to risk breaking a fingernail.
