2.5:1 scaled Maquette of the worm gear set posted earlier. The original gear set is a catalog item from the German precision gear company Framo Morat (inventors of the cookoo clock) in the Black Forrest in Germany. The gear is pivoted on a shaft, which is screwed into the 3-D print base (M20x1.5) and rests on an aluminum disc pressed onto the shaft and trued on the lathe. With the fine-pitch thread the height of the gear can be adjusted. The worm shaft is pivoted in a block, which is inserted by a dovetail guide into the base. The block is 3-D printed, too. The block is movable by an M8 spindle, thus the worm can be radially adjusted towards the gear. The 3-D worm is parted along its axis and glued together, aligned by 4 pcs. of 4 mm dia wooden dowels. The worm is already finished, has amazing accuracy, runout 0.1 mm. (0.004 inch)
