Zeus' loyal companion is a majestic eagle known as Aetos Dios, a golden bird who serves as his personal messenger and trusted friend. This noble creature was once said to be Periphas, a king renowned for his just rule, which earned him divine honors. Zeus, furious at the king's mortal status, prepared to strike him down with a thunderbolt, but Apollon intervened, transforming Periphas into an eagle and placing him by Zeus' side. Alternatively, some believe that Zeus adopted the eagle as a symbol of good fortune after it first appeared to him before the epic struggle against the Titans.
