Zesty Nimble Filament Runout Sensor
thingiverse
I created a filament runout sensor mount by modifying IsaacMDesigns's original design and combining it with the bowden holder from visart3d to enable mounting on the Zesty Nimble drive cable. To ensure smooth loading, refrain from cutting the end of the filament at an angle as this will only make it more difficult to load. Please review the versions notes below. I strongly recommend using https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3496144 in conjunction with this. Hardware Requirements ---------------------- • A filament runout sensor (Mine was sourced from a product on Amazon, B07F65TXGS) • 2mm ID PTFE tube Versions and Variations ----------------------- • The PTFE Passthrough version is the one I personally use. In pursuit of reliable filament feeding, I found that carefully trimming a small piece of PTFE tube (as depicted) and sliding it into the mount resulted in 100% success when loading filament from my dry box. To ensure a snug fit, I left approximately 6mm on the inlet side for the filament guide tube to sit in. • The standard version was created subsequently based on lessons learned from running the PTFE tube through its entire length. Although untested, it is offered as an alternative for those unable to trim the tubing like myself. If you opt for this version, please share your results.
