Zesty Nimble adapter for TrickLaser Rostock groove mount
thingiverse
I modified the Basic Adapter by adding three holes, strategically placing them so that I could mount it on top of the aluminum triangle clamping plate from TrickLaser's kit for groove mount hot ends on a Rostock Max. The aluminum provides exceptional strength, keeping my hot end clamped firmly in place just as securely as before, but with this adapter on top (sharing 3 longer bolts), it remains compact and lightweight while still being simple. I printed mine from ABS at 90% density and then inserted the PTFE tube into the hot end. I added a retaining clip to secure the push-to-connect fitting, which held everything in place once tightened down with a few inches of PTFE sticking up through it all. After fully clamping this assembly along with the groove mount clamping aluminum plate together, I used a hobby knife to slide across the top and cut the PTFE tube flush, eliminating any gap in the filament guidance coming out of the Zesty Nimble. My initial prints have shown an outstanding improvement in quality compared to my previous Bowden tube setup using a Bondtech QR extruder, and even a recent test of a Bondtech BMG on the hot end itself (which proved too heavy and left terrible vibrations visible in the prints). The single biggest enhancement in performance I've observed from any upgrade to my Rostock.
