Zero Height LM8UU Bearing Holder
thingiverse
The LM8UU bearing holder is designed to rest flush on the y-carriage with zero vertical height. Consisting of two brackets, it encloses the bearing from both sides for precise alignment. The accuracy depends on the parallel orientation of the mounting holes in the y-carriage. To use LM8UU bearings with a Prusa I3 derivative aluminum frame from a Spanish 3D printer shop, this holder is designed. The pre-drilled y-carriage has holes for SC10UU bearings, but this holder allows the use of LM8UU bearings. The mounting hole measurements are dx=28mm and dy=21mm. Use four M5 20mm bolts to secure the bearing holder. Adjustments can be made in the OpenSCAD file. Sandpaper can be used to ensure a flat bottom of the holder, increasing tension on the bearing.
