The Zephyrus is a hydroponic air purifying system that uses natural methods for cleaning indoor air. It is a prototype model. Firstly, the system has four net cups which hold plants such as peace lillies or aloe vera that are good at abosorbing air pollutants. The cups sit in a tube that provides nutrient-rich water that is cycled by a pump. The pumped water is aerated as it is ejected from an upper tube that spills into a reservoir. The reservoir then drains by gravity back into the plant tube. Above the plants are four grow lights that assist in photosynthesis. Above the waterfall tube is four fans that draw air over the plants and up through four activated charcoal filters. As the air passes through, particulates are filtered out and the cleaned air enters the upper chamber. In the upper chamber, six UV-B/UV-C lights sanitize the air of any remaining microbes before it exits the front exhaust port. The entire system is controlled by a Raspberry Pi 4.
