Zeotrope Fidget Spinner
thingiverse
This is a 3D-printed Zeotrope fidget spinner that brings images to life as it spins. As the wheel rotates, each image inside creates a short movie-like effect. Hand-cut animations are placed individually as frames, but there must be an easier way to swap them out for new ones. The original design was found on Instructables, but it didn't quite work as intended when posted there. To fix this, I made significant changes to the caps, ensuring they stay securely in place. The original caps had a tendency to fall off, and there was no effective way to get them to fit snugly onto the bearing. I also removed the 3D lettering from the hubs and wheel, which was not visually appealing as it cut all the way through the wheel. Full credit goes to the talented designer who originally posted this idea on Instructables.
