The model may be substantial, but it can be scaled down effortlessly without any drawbacks. I've got a model from a scan I conducted of a small wooden figurine that has been collecting dust in my house for ages. It was scanned with a free software called Meshroom, which is remarkably effective. Afterward, it was refined in Blender and finally edited with Meshmixer. Twitter: https://twitter.com/james_spofforth
