The WZ-501 (also known as the Type 86 IFV or ZBD-86) is a Chinese-made vehicle that closely resembles the Soviet BMP-1, acquired by China from Egypt in the 1980s. The WZ-501 shares almost identical features with its Soviet counterpart, including even its engine being a replica of the UTD-20. However, the Malyutka ATGM launcher was swapped out for the HJ-73 Red Arrow missile system. By the time it entered service in 1992, the ZBD-86 had already become outdated. In Armored Warfare, this vehicle is classified as a Tier 3 Armored Fighting Vehicle. Gameplay-wise, it performs at a similar level to its Soviet counterpart, but with a greater advantage due to its more powerful Red Arrow missile launcher.
