After adding displacement to a cylinder's sides correctly, I experimented with stable diffusion to create 3D paintbrushes and patterns for UV displacement on the cylinder's sides. It never gets boring! Here is an example of a light saber designed using greyscale depth maps generated with stable diffusion: "Greyscale, Blender paintbrush style, depth map, Zapotec design elements, Zapotec patterns."Using UV displacement with stable diffusion-generated depth maps can result in many happy accidents and random awesomeness. It's worth giving it a try! Just remember to put enough loop cuts up and down the length of the cylinder in edit mode so that they make almost equidistant squares, then subdivide x6, then add uv displacement, then decimate, then fix.
