Z40 gear for Universal-3
thingiverse
I got a lathe with one Z40 gear. Thread cutting with module 1 requires two such gears. So I decided to print one more gear. I used plastic PLA. Slic3r params: Layer height is set at 0.25 mm. The first layer height is adjusted to 0.35 mm for optimal adhesion. Perimeters are set at four, ensuring a strong and stable foundation. Solid layers on top and bottom are both set to three, providing additional reinforcement. Seam position is randomly selected to minimize visible seams. Infill density is cranked up to 100%, maximizing the structural integrity of the gear. Speed settings are optimized for smooth and efficient printing. Perimeters move at a speed of 80 mm/s, while small perimeters cruise along at 25 mm/s. External perimeters maintain a moderate pace of 60% capacity. Infill moves at 30 mm/s, with solid infill chugging along at 40 mm/s. Top solid infill takes it easy at 20 mm/s. Travel speed is set to 130 mm/s for rapid movement between print locations. First layer speed is dialed down to 20 mm/s for a smooth and even start.
