Z & Y limit switch adapter for Maker Select V2
thingiverse
TLDR: Stock limit switches are a pain. Replace Y and Z switches using this adapter. Parts listed below. You'll need a soldering iron. One day I started a print when I heard the awful noise of my Y axis motor grinding my build plate against the printer's frame. After freaking out and pulling the power cord, I investigated and found that the cheap stock limit switch on this machine had broken into two parts, no longer functioning. This caused the machine's initial script to grind the build plate against the end of the rails in search of a limit switch trigger it would never find. Naturally, I ordered some replacement switches which I'll link here: https://www.banggood.com/SS-5GL-Micro-Limit-Switch-For-3D-Printer-Accessories-ENDSTOP-RAMPS-1_4-Omron-p-1225333.html?rmmds=buy&cur_warehouse=CN Upon their arrival, I realized the screw holes for these new switches were significantly wider spaced than the holes on my original switch. The simple solution was to make this little adapter. The holes for mounting the actual switch work just by friction. I found it hard to find lock nuts small enough for the purpose, so this was the next best thing. I reused the same screws which mounted the original limit switch and it's actually secured very firmly. You'll need to do a quick solder job to move the connector to the new switch, but it's nothing major or complicated and the connector is easy to detach. This mod also works for the Z axis limit switch with no further changes, I have implemented it now and it works wonderfully. I may in the future make another adapter for the X axis so that all of these limit switches may be phased out of my machine. If I do add this adapter, I will add it here not as a new thing.
