Z-tower adjustable feet
thingiverse
Scouring Thingiverse after adjustable feet for the z-axis tower that would complement AzzA's Z braces to fit on my Duplicator I3 Plus proved to be challenging. Similar designs existed, but none matched the style of the original Z braces. Extending the width of my setup was also not possible. Therefore, I took it upon myself to create this solution. For this project, you will need: (8) M3x10 (DIN 912 / ISO 4762) (4) M8 locking nut (DIN 985 / ISO 10511) (2) 70 mm M8 threaded rod (DIN 976) Installation: Press a M8 locking nut into Bottom_Mount_G2 with the nylon facing upwards. Cut a M8 threaded rod to 70mm in length and thread it into Bottom_Mount_G2. Insert a regular M8 nut into Adjustment_Knob_G2 and place the knob inside Foot_G2 with the plastic facing down, threading all the way onto the threaded rod of the Bottom_Mount_G2 assembly. Unscrew the upper left M3 screw at the bottom of the frame and place the upper left hole with the assembly clocked left to clear other screws. Screw a M3x10 tight, then unscrew the rest of the screws, clocking the assembly into place and screwing the rest diagonally to an appropriate torque. Adjust Foot_G2 downwards until the frame raises in the front, then gently turn the knob back and press down at the front of the frame, observing the gap. Adjust until this gap is completely diminished. If more adjustment is needed, unthread some of the rod out of the assembly. If you have any questions, suggestions, or critique, I will happily receive them. * G2 is now available. Compared to the G1, the feet no longer come off when lifting the printer. The maximum recommended adjustment is 15mm below the frame. * 190204 - Adjusted some dimensions in the foot to make it easier to turn the knob. Made installation instructions. I've removed the "Work in progress" label as I consider the design finished! * 190211 - Redesigning the foot again (Foot_G3) to accept vibration dampeners, heavily inspired by docpayce's remix and should be fully compatible. This part is still early access and has not been tested yet. Please keep this in mind.
