Z Top Filament Spool Mount for Ormerod
thingiverse
I needed a more streamlined setup for my Ormerod 2 and moving the filament spool holder was key to it. Kiestenschieber's design inspired me, which you can see here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:758259. I wanted something sleeker, lower profile, so I created this solution from scratch. There are two main parts to it: a modified z-upper-mount and the spool holder itself. I chose 625ZZ bearings for it, but any bearing with a 5mm internal diameter would work just as well. The bearings fit snugly into the mount. You'll also need 2 M3 nuts and 2 M3x35 cap head screws to bring it all together. I've only used Hatchbox filament so far, which is where the mount's design comes from: it's perfect for 32mm spools. Two guides for the filament are included: a small one for direct feed of 1.75mm filament, and a larger one that can be used for PTFE tube or thicker filaments like I do. Print Settings: Printer: Ormerod 2 Rafts: It Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Infill: 20% Notes: You'll need support for the bearing mounts. How It Was Designed Designed on Onshape.com
