I am presenting another add-on for the Printrbot Simple aimed at reducing the wobble of the z-axis threaded rod. The main objective behind this creation was to minimize Z-ribbing in my prints, which can sometimes occur due to imperfect extrusion flow and mechanical limitations of 3D printing technologies. This design draws inspiration from previous iterations posted here on online communities related to 3D printing and has been modified to fit the Printrbot Simple's large motor dimensions. From my testing experience, it seems to function effectively; however, results may vary for others. Please note that caution is advised if you plan to print objects taller than approximately 8.5 cm because this brace might cause tension between the Y-axis drive and the Z-axis movement. In such cases, further adjustments are necessary. Unfortunately, there's no simple fix to avoid damage in prints up to 10 cm in height without implementing more substantial hardware changes like longer poles or redesigning the entire build area to accommodate taller objects safely and efficiently. This piece was created using the computer-aided design (CAD) software 123D Design, relying on precise measurements taken with a Mitutoyo caliper to accurately depict the dimensions of the Printrbot Simple.
