Z-Stop Fine Adjustment for Monoprice Maker Select
thingiverse
Let's adjust the height of your nozzle with one simple screw. This eliminates the need to adjust the bed with four screws/knobs, giving you more stability and a secure printing surface. Supplies needed: 1. Frame Top 2. Frame Bottom 3. Adjuster Foot 4. Sensor L Bracket (all printed in Durable PLA) 5. 4mm x 30mm screw (https://www.mcmaster.com/94387a262) 6. 4mm tap (https://www.mcmaster.com/8305a14) 7. 2: 4mm nuts (https://www.mcmaster.com/90591a255) 8. 5: 1.91 x 10mm plastite screws (https://www.mcmaster.com/99397a267) Cut threads in the large hole at the bottom right of the Frame Bottom using a 4mm tap or by forcing the 4 x 30mm screw to cut its own threads. Place your screw and tighten it against the side wall of the Frame Bottom. Secure two 4mm nuts together at the end of the 4 x 30mm screw, ensuring they align perfectly without any adhesive. Apply a small amount of cyanoacrylate glue if necessary. Submerge the Adjuster Foot in boiling water, then fit the locked and aligned nuts into its hex hole. As it cools, the Adjuster Foot will shrink to fit over the nuts, requiring no adhesive to secure it in place. Ensure the Adjuster Foot is straight while still soft; if it's crooked when cooled, repeat the process with a new Adjuster Foot (printed with Durable PLA). Clamp the Z-Axis Frame Top and Bottom to the X-axis stepper motor using two 1.91 x 10mm plastite screws, leaving at least 2mm gap between them. Tighten gradually until a secure grip is achieved on the stepper motor. Move the Monoprice Z-Axis limit switch mount outside the frame using its original screws from inside the printer. Mount the limit switch to the Sensor L-Bracket with two 1.91 x 10mm plastite screws, securing it to the repositioned Monoprice mount by sliding the slot over a protruding sheet metal feature and threading the original screws through the holes in the back of the L Bracket. Add a third 1.91 x 10mm plastite screw to create tension on the 4 x 30mm screw, preventing accidental adjustment changes. *Don't leave the print surface tightened all the way down unless it's level and you don't care about adjustments.* **Durable PLA offers exceptional strength, allowing for tight assembly with good grip on the stepper motor.* ***Coarse-threaded plastite screws provide the best grip; any ~2mm screw will do.*
