This text presents a printable upgrade for the Z-stage bearings on a Thing-O-Matic 3D printer, aimed at eliminating chatter during Z-axis movement and missed steps. The original bearings are replaced with a more reliable plastic alternative that is easily strong enough to support the Z stage. The new design also allows for easy lifting of the Z stage by about 10mm in case of nozzle accidents. The upgrade requires no modifications to the printer and can be installed using existing bolts or longer ones, if necessary. Printed with a .28mm layer height, 3 shells, and 35% infill, this upgrade ensures silky smooth and silent Z-axis movement after applying a small amount of lithium grease to the contact points. Note that this solution may not be applicable to ABP printers due to clearance issues.
