Z-Sensor Bracket for Behind Front Fan
thingiverse
TL;DR: I designed a bracket to fit between the blower fan and extruder housing on my Anet A8, specifically for an 18mm sensor. I've also added a 12mm version as requested. The 18mm and 12mm brackets are designed to work together seamlessly. The 18mm bracket has offsets of -20, -57 (x, y) and requires BACK_PROBE_BED_POSITION to be set to 163 in Skynet v2.3.1. I've also included a 12mm version with offsets of -17, -56 (x, y) and a recommended BACK_PROBE_BED_POSITION of 164. As for the design process, I was looking for a suitable bracket for my Anet A8's z-levelling sensor (18mm diameter). I searched far and wide but couldn't find anything that fit perfectly. Most designs used the heatsink screws as a fixture, which wasn't ideal for me since I prefer to change filament without moving the sensor. I decided to create my own bracket that would fit behind the blower fan at the front of the print head. It turned out to be a simple and effective design that works perfectly. The only challenge was finding M3 allen key headed screws long enough to hold everything together, but I managed to find two spare ones that did the trick. I've used Skynet v2.3.1 on my Anet A8 with great success. To make this work, you'll need to update your printer settings as follows: set X offset to -20, Y offset to -57, and BACK_PROBE_BED_POSITION to 163. If you're using the 12mm version, use offsets of -17, -56 (x, y) and set BACK_PROBE_BED_POSITION to 164. Print Settings: Printer: Anet A8 Rafts: No Supports: Doesn't Matter Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 20% Notes: YMMV
