The cap ensures stability of threaded and smooth Z-axis rods, preventing wobbling in the rod and hence avoiding separation between the Z nut and wooden structure it rides on. It particularly helps when the extruder carriage is lowering, as it prevents the nut from separating. The cap additionally features a filament guide to keep filament away from moving parts during printing. If you face issues with Z nut separation from its socket in PrintrBot Plus v2.1, use this cap along with my Z Nut Clip for optimal performance. For best printing results, choose a .25 layer height and set the heated bed temperature at 50 C to prevent curling.
