Z Reference Marker
thingiverse
For those who encounter issues with their Left Side build plate dropping when the Z motors aren't powered, I've got a possible solution. The problem lies in levelling the bed before printing, as the Left Side build plate can sometimes be lower than the right by a few millimeters even after homing all axes. This makes it difficult to correct. To address this issue, I designed a simple add-on that can be screwed into the Z plate of your printer's bed. It has a threaded M3 hole for a limit switch plunger, which allows for precise adjustments. My new approach involves manually raising the Left Side Z motor until it meets the frame above after homing the axes. In my case, the bed is perfectly level at 41.5 mm from the frame on both sides. Until we have dual Z limit switches or auto bed levelling that can compensate for a few millimeter changes in slope, this hack should do the trick.
