Z-probe with optical switch and Op-amp comparator
thingiverse
An ultra-precise z-probe utilizes an optical switch and high-performance op-amp comparator for superior trigger accuracy. The op-amp, a robust UA741CN, is powered by a reliable 5V source. A sturdy metal pin, measuring 70mm x 3mm, serves as the probe's core component. This pin has been expertly trimmed to precise specifications. A salvaged neodymium magnet from an old DVD drive is strategically integrated into the design, serving as the optical head. The probe's spring is cleverly sourced from a standard ball pen. For assembling the electronics components, a compact perfboard was employed. Achieving a highly polished and accurately trimmed metal pin head is crucial for ensuring accuracy.
