Z-motor Mount Replacement for TEVO Tarantula
cults3d
This is a remake of a z-motor mount created by Albatrossity: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2754633 The original mount functioned fairly well, but I discovered that the top plate, which gets attached to the 2020 extrusion, wasn't thick enough and the bolts hit the bottom of the v slot before they contacted the plastic, making it impossible to tighten the mount properly. Also, there was no way to adjust the alignment of the z rod with the original mount, so I set out to design this remake that included these modifications. Integration is straightforward and follows mostly the same process as the original motor mount. Loosely attach the motor to the mount, then attach the motor mount to the frame using the t-nuts and bolts already used in the acrylic z motor mount. After securely mounting, loosen the bolts holding on the motor, align the z rod with the frame by moving the motor forward or backward, and then tighten the motor bolts. As always when working with 3d printed parts, don't over tighten the bolts (a snapping sound means you've gone too far). In my opinion, the 3D printed mount is stronger than the flimsy acrylic mounts that come with the printer. Print with 100% infill for maximum reliability.
