Z Height Jig
thingiverse
This alignment tool fits snugly between the top of the z-axis motor mounting plate and the bottom of the x-axis mounts. When it fits equally well on both sides, you're ready to print. Alternatively, you could create two of these and adjust your z-axis until it bottoms out on both sides. My printer currently requires minimal adjustments once the bed is properly leveled. I perform a quick 4-second check with the tool after homing, and about 10% of the time, I may need to turn the z-motor a click or two. This setup is good enough for me. I'd like to note that one simple modification made on my Tronxy P802E significantly improved bed level consistency - replacing the flimsy acrylic undercarriage with a solid aluminum one.
