Z-Extensions- Maker Select V2/Duplicator i3
thingiverse
Inspiration for this design stems directly from AzzA's innovative Z Extensions. I must note that I am unsure if these modifications will work seamlessly with any other Z brace aside from the GulfCoast Robotics Front Mount Z Brace kit, as this is the specific setup I have on my Maker. The original AzzA Z extensions did function properly, but there were several aspects of them that left me unsatisfied: 1. Four visible hardware holes persisted after relocating the crossmember. 2. Unused hardware holes remained in their original positions. 3. The Z-rod bracket became misaligned following the modification. 4. The side tab of the crossmember was tweaked or improperly aligned with the gantry. To rectify these issues, I set out to create a revised design that addresses each concern. The result is a redesign that eliminates visible holes, utilizes all available hardware, and positions both the Z-rod bracket and side tab correctly. If you have previously installed AzzA's Z extensions, you will need to add four M3 x 8mm socket head cap screws and M3 Nyloc nuts to your collection. Conversely, if you are working from a stock machine, you will require eight additional M3 x 8mm socket head cap screws and M3 Nyloc nuts. A single Z extension is provided, which is designed for the right-hand side. To complete the modification, mirror this design in your slicer to create a second Z extension. Don't forget to include two spacers, one for each side of the machine. I have included STL, STEP, and SLDPRT files for both the Z Extension and the Spacer. If you would be so kind as to share your completed projects with me, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
