Z-Coil Heels
thingiverse
These replacement heels are designed for specific models of Z-Coil shoes, modeled after Mens 7T-10T and Womens 8T-12T sizes. Nylon Bridge filament was used to create them, which turned out to be semi-flexible yet firm, similar to the original rubber heels. The print requires support for the overhang that holds the spring and can benefit from additional support at the base of the treads. After removing the old heel from the coil spring, these replacement heels fit snugly but need to be secured with high-quality adhesive such as Gorilla Construction Adhesive. To reduce print time and save material, you can edit the Gcode file to create two separate files: one at 100% and another at 25ish%. By combining them, the bottom 4-5 mm will remain at 100%, while the rest of the print is done at a lower resolution. Be sure to reset your filament measurement for the second half and calculate height rather than just layer count. Additionally, two model pairs have been added for heel protectors: one for nearly new Zcoil heels and another for quite worn heels with slight under-pronating (a common issue). These protectors should be printed at 100% infill. The worn model is designed for 4mm of wear, but you can stop the print early if less wear is desired - around 85% onward. For optimal durability, it's recommended to use a layer thickness of no more than 0.15 mm with perfect layer bonding on protectors and the bottom of complete heels. Contact cement seems to bond well to soles and nylon protectors. Due to variations in heel design across different models, it's challenging to guarantee a good fit. Therefore, please eyeball the print closely to ensure a proper fit.
