
Z Camera Mount

Ender 3 rear-mounted Z-axis camera mount, because I couldn't watch the nozzle on tall prints, and my EZABL Pro was in the way. This thing positions the camera at the rear of the printer so a) it's out of the way, and b) prevents the ABL probe from blocking the view of the nozzle. You need to buy: 1 - 2040 extrusion of the desired height (I used a 500mm extrusion) 1 - MGN12 Linear rail of the appropriate height (I used a 450mm rail) 1 - Dual z-axis stepper motor kit. If your printer has been modded to have a taller-than stock vertical print area, you'll have to find a lead screw that is an appropriate length. Parts: 0) Extrusion bracket - this attaches your purchased 2040 aluminum extrusion to the right/rear of the 40mm extrusion already on your printer. It is assumed that you'll be attaching the 2040 extrusion at the rear-most location (as illustrated in the assembled pictures provided. You will need M4 screws/t-nuts to bolt this bracket to the extrusions. 1) Rail mount - this mount bolts to the rail block (that came with your rail), and allows you to connect the rail to the lead screw plate that came with your dual-Z kit (using the long M5 screw that came with your dual-z kit, and an appropriate nut). You will need M3 screws to attach this mount to the rail block. 2) Main camera mount bracket - this attaches to the rail mount. The screws that hold the rail mount to the rail block are also used to mount this bracket to the rail mount. 3) Camera pedestal - this slides through the hole in the main camera mount bracket . The printed part in this thing are generic, with the exception of the camera mount "turret". I designed it for my camera which is a no-name Chinese USB web cam. You'll probably have to modify the STL for the turret to adapt it to your camera. 4) Camera turret - this attaches to the camera pedestal with a M3 screw, and serves to a) retail the pedestal, and b) lock the camera's aim in the desired direction. 5) Lead screw bearing support (optional) - Supports the top of the lead screw so it doesn't wobble around while it's turning. You need a standard 688-2RS bearing (available on Amazon). 6) Lead screw bearing support cap - Covers/retains the bearing in the bearing support. You need two M3 screws to secure this cap. I printed the camera mount arm with petg because it hangs out there quite far, but PLA should be good enough.
